We specialise in providing assistance for a select range of family visas. These include the Partner, Fiance and Parent visas. Information about these visas are provided below.
Partner visas
Partner visas allow an applicant to be sponsored by their:
- Spouse; or
- Defacto Partner
who is either an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen over 18 years old.
Overview
A partner visa application is a combined application which applies for both a temporary and a permanent visa at the same time.
Generally, the temporary visa is granted first and then after 2 years, the Department assesses and grants permanent residency. In some situations, permanent residency is granted immediately after the temporary visa is approved.
How long does this visa last?
The temporary spouse visa is valid until a decision is made on the permanent spouse visa. The permanent spouse visa allows you to remain in Australia indefinitely.
Fiance visa
The prospective marriage visa (subclass 309) allows a fiance to be sponsored by an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.
Overview
The visa applicant must be overseas at the time the visa is lodged and when it is granted.
You and your fiance must meet set criteria including the intention to marry within nine months of the visa being granted and to live as spouses after you are married.
How long does the visa last?
The visa is granted for 9 months and cannot be extended – you must seek another visa option to remain in Australia.
